Knowing the Unknown – John’s Story

John

"I grew up and have strong ties to the Eastside. I had a rough and tumultuous upbringing, although never homeless. My mother died when I was 8 years old and we moved frequently from rental to rental, I went to 6 different grade schools therefore I share my story with our young adults to let them know that they can grow past their situation.

I feel very connected hearing their individual stories and the strength they show to overcome obstacles. The relationships I have formed with our young adults, staff and other volunteers are priceless and have helped me grow in numerous ways. Outreach has truly become a second family for me that I look forward to continuing to build upon." John, Outreach Volunteer
