Knowing the Unknown – Sheri & Todd’s Story

"We love coming to Outreach! We were blessed to have families while we were growing up and were so astounded to know there are actually homeless youth, and we wanted to do something to help.

It is so rewarding to be in the program center and interact with the youth coming in to get help with all kinds of necessities, guidance and friendship too. It is encouraging to us as volunteers that so many are upbeat in spite of what life has given them. They are going on with another day, trying to find housing, a meal, clothing and navigating their situation. It has been a true blessing getting to know some of them by name, their stories, giving encouragement and helping in some small way.

The staff are always interacting with the youth, celebrating achievements, guiding, encouraging and empowering them to participate in the center's daily activities and to take responsibility for themselves. The staff, like a family, cares enough to put an arm around them in tough times, gives them truthful guidance and tough love when necessary." – Sheri & Todd, Outreach Volunteers
